I was recently asked, “Where do you get the ideas for your blogs?”
I answered, “They usually just come to me.”
Well this one you’re reading right now wasn’t “coming”.
I had a problem: I needed something to write about.
I was searching for something to write about for a few days now- raking my brain for a topic while on my walks, while doing my morning and nighttime routines, while cooking and while washing dishes. I was reading books with the intention of finding something to write about. I would even hope of dreaming something that would have substance enough to share!
For the past few days, I have been a “dog on a bone” looking for a topic for this blog.
I laugh, now, as I look back. I had felt gentle suggestions from my intuition, “just let it go”, but I remember thinking to myself in response to this feeling, “I can’t let it go. I need a solution- I need something to write about.” So, I’d ignore the feeling and I’d keep searching.
And it’s only now I realize that this week, the videos I had watched, the book I was reading, and the sessions with my clients, all had a similar theme: Surrender.
As Wayne Dyer says, “For those of us who have grown up believing life is a ‘do-it-yourself’ project it is hard to admit that we need the help of many others.”
Have you ever had a “problem” that needed a “solution”? Sometimes we go to other people for help. Sometimes they can help us…and sometimes they can’t.
What do you do when they can’t help?
What I have the tendency to do (as evidenced by this story) is just force myself harder to find a solution. I rely more and more on my own power. It is tiring and, frankly, not that effective in finding a solution.
How did I finally find the topic of this blog? I finally surrendered.
“Surrendered to who?”, you might ask. I surrendered to a higher power.
As Wayne Dyer wrote, “I simply do not know how to resolve this situation and I am turning it over to the same force that I turn my physical body over to every night when I go to sleep. I trust in this force to keep digesting my food and circulating my blood, and so on. The force is there, it is available.”
He also wrote, “I surrender to my source and turn this huge problem over to that same power that moves the stars.”
Surrendering doesn’t mean admitting defeat. “Defeat” would imply you were fighting with something, and you lost. But if you are part of the universe and the universe is always evolving into greater good, what would you be fighting against? Why would you fight against something working for your good? And, even if you did fight against it, you couldn’t lose, because you are part of it.
“Surrender” means allowing others, Universe, God or Source to help you evolve.
And solving your problems is part of the evolution.
You and God are partners. Let Him help you.
Let go and let God.
What “problems” are you experiencing right now that you can you turn over to the power that moves the galaxies?
Will you let Him help you and gift you with peace?
Here’s to conquering stress.
