Big Stress and Small Stress: It's All the Same

My house really needs to be vacuumed! The dust bunnies in the corners are looking very healthy, growing rapidly. But where is the time? Yard work, harvest, putting away food, running a business. With so much demanding of my time, I can’t get around to doing it.

Putting it all in perspective…life, that is…this really is a little issue. I mean no one dies from aggressive dust bunnies! Regardless, my stress is there. The dust bunnies are not life-threatening…but my physiology doesn’t know that. 

Did you know…your body can’t tell the difference between a BIG stress and a little stress? Inside the body, a predictable pattern of about 1400 biochemical events takes place, regardless of the size of the stress experienced. If these reactions are left unchecked, we are left with impaired cognitive function (such as decision-making, foresight, concentration and creativity), premature aging, decreased effectiveness and drained energy - we just feel schlumpy.
